# Privacy Policy for CoinGecko Official Excel Add-in

**Overview**\
This Privacy Policy explains how the CoinGecko Excel Add-in ("the Add-in") handles data. The Add-in is designed as a "client-side" tool, meaning your data stays in your control.

**Data We Collect & How We Use It**

* **API Keys:** To fetch cryptocurrency data, you must provide a CoinGecko API Key (Demo or Pro). This key is stored exclusively in your local **OfficeRuntime.storage** on your device. We do not transmit this key to our own servers or any third party other than CoinGecko's official API endpoints.
* **Usage Data:** We may append a tracking parameter (`&source=excel`) to API requests sent to CoinGecko to monitor general usage trends and optimize performance. This does not include personal information or your spreadsheet data.
* **Spreadsheet Content:** The Add-in does not read or collect the contents of your Excel workbooks, except for the specific parameters you pass into the `=CG.` functions to retrieve data.
