This Privacy Policy explains how the CoinGecko Excel Add-in (“the Add-in”) handles data. The Add-in is designed as a “client-side” tool, meaning your data stays in your control. Data We Collect & How We Use It
  • API Keys: To fetch cryptocurrency data, you must provide a CoinGecko API Key (Demo or Pro). This key is stored exclusively in your local OfficeRuntime.storage on your device. We do not transmit this key to our own servers or any third party other than CoinGecko’s official API endpoints.
  • Usage Data: We may append a tracking parameter (&source=excel) to API requests sent to CoinGecko to monitor general usage trends and optimize performance. This does not include personal information or your spreadsheet data.
  • Spreadsheet Content: The Add-in does not read or collect the contents of your Excel workbooks, except for the specific parameters you pass into the =CG. functions to retrieve data.
Third-Party Services
Requests are routed directly to CoinGecko’s API endpoints (api.coingecko.com or pro-api.coingecko.com). Use of these services is subject to CoinGecko’s Global Privacy Policy. Contact Us
